Stephanie L. Ezust, Ph.D.

I am a clinical psychologist with more than 40 years of experience as a psychotherapist.

I work with individuals, couples, and groups to create healthier relationships, build coping skills, mindfulness, and improve resiliency.

People come to see me who have survived trauma in their lives, both recent and historical events. Often life stage transitions such as entry into new careers, marriage, divorce, illness, and death of a loved one could prompt one to begin therapy with me. In addition, clients can enhance their lives through assertiveness skills, clarifying life goals, making important life decisions, learning to tolerate distress, and getting off the “emotional roller coaster” through self-soothing, mindfulness, and meditation.

I believe that psychotherapy involves the encounter of souls in what can become a profoundly creative and transformative experience.

Individual
Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy can empower you to become more present and aware of your inner strengths, enabling you to fully embrace and enjoy your life.

I believe the relationship between my client and me is the most important component of individual psychotherapy, regardless of presenting issues.  Accordingly, I work hard to establish an atmosphere of safety and comfort.

Group Therapy

Group therapy provides support by allowing members to explore issues deeply with the help of others who may provide new perspectives from their own experiences. Group members may also try new behaviors and get feedback in a safe, supportive environment.

Couples Therapy

Would you rather be right or be happy?  The five most important words in a relationship are:  “You were right; I’m sorry.”

My goal in working with couples is to help them learn to listen deeply to each other and to develop skills to work through differences and deepen their intimacy.

Mindful Meditation

The definition of the word mindfulness is to be fully present in the moment without judgment.  This is a lot easier said than done, and to be mindful all the time is not realistic, so the idea is to create a practice.

My Approach

Psychotherapy provides a “safe container” in which one can explore her or his feelings and challenges without fear of judgment or rejection. There is no blueprint for psychotherapy: I respond to each client’s individual needs, and together we navigate the journey leading to the client’s own inner wisdom and healing.
